From the Desk of the President: March Meeting

As all of you know our March, 2012 Meeting will be held THIS Thursday at 7:00 PM

I wanted to give a brief overview of a few things we will be going over (or that I have in my notes to go over)

I want to have a Report read from the Treasurer, we have had several ideas come up on the Facebook Page about ways the club can possibly invest in some sort of online training or possibly build an library of referance and training tools. I think this is an idea worth discussing, but as we have discussed at recent board meetings there are things in the budget to consider, and we need to know where we stand financially before discussing this in to much detail.

Second thing: Is of course the Discussion of the learning Library. I will yield the Floor to Kristen for a brief summary of what information she has found, I also have some info to share from sites I have found usefull.

Third Thing: Is our Showing and critiq (sp) of photos, I am wanting everyone to have their photo ready at the beginning of the meeting, we will take some time to lay them out with numbers so they can be looked at with out Bias and then we will go over the critique sheet and when we have discussed the business we need to we will allow for time for people to look over them and give their comments.

We will break for a small stretch

Come back ready to share your comments, we will allow for a comment on everyones piece if possible, we can also open the floor if people want a more detailed discussion of a few photos, we will see how this goes since it is the first time we are doing it, I am as excited as you are.

I also want to take a minute or two to discuss what we LEARNED from Jims Presentation last month, what we liked and what we didnt, as this is the first time in a long time we have brought in an outside speaker I am curious for input from the club as to your brief comments.

There are SEVERAL field trips in the work and being sponsored by different club members. I am leading a group to Mushroom rock State Park in April, Kristen is leading a group to the Tulip Festival in Wamego, and there are others I am just not thinkin of them off the top of my head.

I do want to touch base on the Tanganika trip posted and commented on by several members.
I spoke to my friend Dave who used to Manage Studios United for my friend Bodie, The trip is PRIMARILY a model "blitz" shoot. This is not a field day sponsored by the park to daves knowledge, they are just allowing several photographers from the wichita area to get in early and do some shooting with a guide and several glam models that are being contracted by the individual photographers, to Daves knowledge it is open to members of Studios United only, they pay a yearly membership into the studio to use it on a "appointment only" basis. They used to be a very good organization to work with but in recent years there has been a lot of bad dealings from what I hear. I know the studio has changed management several times in the last few years and I am just going off of what an insider is telling me, so I could be wrong.

Looking forward to seeing everyone Thursday night!
Lynn
